Great oral health is essential for everyone, no matter how old you are. At Elegant Smiles, we encourage parents to make their child's first trip to a dentist before they turn one. From that point, parents should make certain their children go to the dentist at least two times a year for cleanings and exams. Our objective is to give your child a fun and relaxing visit to our Las Vegas, NV office to give them a positive association with going to the dentist that can last the rest of their life. Throughout the dental appointment, our dentists will evaluate the growth of their teeth, look for problems or areas of trouble, and instruct them on how best to keep up a proper dental care regimen at home. To learn more information about pediatric dentistry for your child, contact Elegant Smiles to make an appointment with our team.
How Does Pediatric Dentistry Work?
Babies can experience tooth decay and cavities as soon as two years of age. Elegant Smiles may provide preventive options and procedures to help keep the teeth healthy before decay occurs. Your child might have their primary (baby) teeth for many years so it's important to keep their teeth healthy until your son or daughter gets their permanent teeth. You can help by scheduling visits two times a year for exams and cleanings. After their cleaning, a fluoride treatment may also be suggested to strengthen the teeth while they are developing. Our doctors will demonstrate techniques on the correct method to brush and floss. Additionally, sealants are often suggested to reduce tooth decay and cavities. Our dentists also may address teeth that are already showing decay or are damaged, chipped, or broken by making a successful treatment plan. When your child is a preteen or teenager, we might suggest an orthodontic treatment to straighten their teeth, which may avoid future dental issues.
Elegant Smiles Reviews
I found this place after bouncing around several offices and leaving with much dissatisfaction. I think it’s safe to say that I’ve now found my permanent dentist’s office. The staff is very kind and helpful. They go to great lengths to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The office itself is very clean and welcoming. I was actually feeling so relaxed (rare) because the office offers a nice view of the mountains while sitting in the chair getting procedures done. I almost forgot that I was there for dental work!Dr. Huynh is phenomenal. Very professional and knowledgeable. Very gentle and kind in her approach. I’m very happy to have found her practice.
Was a new patient here and Dr. Phan is so nice. He is very honest and didn’t over diagnose on me. Another office told me I needed a ton of dental work. When I came here they were efficient and upfront. I really appreciated that. The cleaning was gentle with a powder water spray that left me feeling so clean. Thank you Miles for being so gentle!
My experience began with the warm, welcoming smile from Daniel at the front desk. She was so kind and made me feel comfortable because I was always scared of going to the dentist. Then I met Dr. Phan who was just as warm and welcoming. I was told I needed 9 crowns and I have been told that several months before by a different dentist , but he did not make me feel comfortable. I decided to go ahead and let Dr. Phan do the work. It was a lengthy few visits but Dr. Phan and his assistant Catherine were so amazing and made me feel at home. They were both so attentive and caring about all my feelings. If I felt any discomfort, Dr. Phan would stop immediately and made sure I was comfortable until he continued his perfection!!!! My teeth look and feel amazing and I HIGHLY recommend him. If you want perfection you need to see Dr. Phan because he is the best!!!! Thank you Dr. Phan.
I am extremely happy with Dr Phi Phan and his entire team at Elegant Smiles. Everyone is so kind, thoughtful, helpful and talented. I'm absolutely excited about going to the dentist.
I had many issues with my teeth and was never happy with how they looked. Dr. Phan completely reinvented my smile and thoroughly explained everything in the process. I really appreciate him and the entire team for their care. Everyone is informative, helpful, and has great attention to detail.

About UsPediatric Dentistry FAQs
How can I help my child overcome dental anxiety?
Dental visits can be intimidating for children, especially during their first few appointments. To ease their anxiety, start by discussing the visit in a positive and age-appropriate manner, avoiding words that might cause fear. Reading children's books about dental visits or playing pretend dentist at home can familiarize them with the process. Additionally, choosing a pediatric dental office with a child-friendly environment and staff trained in behavior management can make a significant difference in your child's comfort level.
What should I do if my child resists brushing their teeth?
It's common for young children to be uncooperative during toothbrushing. To encourage better habits, try making brushing a fun activity by using toothbrushes with their favorite characters or playing their favorite song during brushing time. Establishing a consistent routine and brushing together as a family can also motivate them. If resistance continues, consult your pediatric dentist for additional strategies tailored to your child's needs.
When should my child start flossing?
Flossing should begin when your child's teeth start to fit closely together, typically between the ages of 2 and 6. At this stage, food particles and plaque can get trapped between teeth, leading to cavities. Initially, you'll need to assist your child with flossing until they develop the dexterity to do it themselves, usually around age 10. Regular flossing, combined with brushing, is essential for maintaining healthy gums and preventing tooth decay.
