Cracked and deteriorating teeth are typically treated with a filling or a different type of replacement if they are detected and managed early. Nevertheless, if the damage makes it to the core of the tooth, also called the pulp, a root canal is occasionally required to return oral wellness and mediate the need for extraction. A root canal is an advanced treatment provided at Elegant Smiles to take out diseased inner tooth tissue and close off the vulnerable tooth to improve dental wellness. Our doctors improve infected or internally deteriorating teeth with advanced root canal therapy and employ sedation techniques to further boost patient comfort. When you suffer from a significantly painful or infected tooth, reach out to our Las Vegas, NV facility at your earliest convenience to hear about the health advantages of specialized root canal treatment.

Several symptoms that can signal the need for a root canal consist of sharp or throbbing tooth discomfort, other continual dental pain, pain when eating, and sensitivity to elevated and cold temperatures. You may also have puffiness concentrated around the face or gums, a painful pustule on the gumline, or discoloration of a tooth after an injury. Innovative approaches are utilized to elevate an individual's relaxation throughout their root canal treatment. At Elegant Smiles, root canals are performed with local anesthesia, which can be combined with sedation techniques to encourage enhanced relaxation. As soon as the tooth has lost feeling, a covering is positioned to safeguard the patient's oral structures, and the impacted area will be exposed via a small opening made in the upper part of the tooth. The pulp (which makes up the nervous tissues and blood storage for the tooth) is then removed, and the inner canal is reshaped using professional tools prior to being completely cleaned. Our dentists then close off the damaged tooth with a high-quality substance and follow that with a sedative filling to encourage the rehabilitation period.

The amount of dental discomfort you were feeling before your endodontic treatment should start to subside once the root canal is over. Over-the-counter pain relievers can also be used to reduce any aches or puffiness that form after your appointment. Our team will set up a checkup consultation 2 – 4 weeks after to evaluate your recovery. Teeth corrected with root canal therapy are at a greater risk of injury and often require the safety of a customized crown when they're entirely recovered. A ceramic restoration may then be created to restore the function and appearance of the tooth.

I am pretty busy and usually won't sit down to write a review, but I felt this one deserved the time. I had a badly chipped tooth that several dentists told me needed a root canal. I never had any pain in the tooth, so I just felt that it was possible the tooth could be saved. I did some research and read that a Bio dentist is more likely to take the time to save your tooth. I searched up Bio dentists and came across Elegant Smiles. I saw Dr Phan. He did a xray and a couple tests on my tooth and told me he believed he could save it, but he couldn't guarantee it. Well he did indeed save my tooth! I was so happy! I did not need a root canal and my tooth feels great. He also took a tremendous amount of time to make adjustments to my crown to make sure it fit perfectly and I was 100 percent comfortable. I drove across town to this office and will 100 percent do it again. It is definitely a needle in a haystack. The staff are all super polite and welcoming. They actually answer their phones and call you back. The office is super clean. They don't overbook like most offices, so they also run on time. I highly highly recommend them!

About Us
Do root canals hurt?

The first question on most patients' minds when they hear they need a root canal is often, "Will it hurt?". At Elegant Smiles in Las Vegas, NV, our experienced team of doctors puts your comfort first and foremost with every procedure we perform. Before we begin a root canal, the tooth to be treated is completely numbed with a local anesthetic to keep you from feeling pain or discomfort. We employ an advanced computer-assisted anesthetic delivery system that makes receiving anesthesia more precise and virtually pain-free to help reduce any anxiety you may have about your root canal procedure.

How long does a root canal take?

Most root canals can be completed in about 30 – 60 minutes. If the root canal is more involved, it can take up to 90 minutes in some circumstances.

How long does it take to recover from a root canal?

Most patients typically start feeling back to normal within about 1 – 3 days after their root canal procedure. For any soreness, sensitivity, or discomfort, over-the-counter pain relievers are typically sufficient (always consult your physician before taking any medications).
